Watch Greg Run began as an online journal of my effort to run a marathon each month during 2009. With the marathon a month challenge successfully behind me, I'm still running and still posting with notes on training runs, travel and other thoughts.

Countdown to New York

Heading in to the New York City Marathon, I am going to do my best to provide frequent updates and information related to my November event.

For today, I'll let you know how to "join in" the marathon with me. The key information is available at the link below:

The quick details are:
  1. Simply Run the required distance (anywhere you choose) within the appointed 96 hour time frame. Runners must complete 5 miles in the Poland Spring Kickoff Virtual Run and a minimum of three miles or up to the maximum of a complete marathon for the ING New York City Virtual Marathon.

  2. Submit race distance and time at the ING New York City Marathon Virtual Running Event website. Results can be entered manually or via supported timing devices.

  3. Compare your results with other virtual participants and see how you would have finished among the live participants.

  4. Enjoy your 9+1 qualifying credit to the ING New York City Marathon 2010 (NYRR members only)

  5. Receive your purchased official ING New York City Marathon Virtual Running Event t-shirt and medal three weeks after the race.

In short, you can be part of the New York City Marathon effort from your normal walking, jogging or running route.

Click on the link and be part of the New York fun!
